People with disability and the criminal legal system

The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability is a royal commission established on 4 April 2019 by the Australian government.

The Commissioners are required to provide an interim report by 30 October 2020, and a final report by 29 April 2022.

You can read the Letters Patent (the formal legal document that constitutes the commission) here. Of course I’m going to share the Letters Patent, I’m deliciously nerdy like that.

Recently, the Royal Commission released an issues paper asking for expert commentary on people with disability and the criminal legal system. You can have a read of the submission we wrote here.
