The tour

Melbourne is sick. Taylor Swift mania has infected the world’s (second) most liveable city and Taylor seems to have loved Melbourne right back. However, fifty years ago another global megastar visited Melbourne and his tour didn’t really go well- at all.

I spoke to ABC Melbourne about Frank Sinatra’s 1974 tour of Melbourne. This story involves the unions, two prime ministers (one current, on future), some deeply insulted journalists, a reluctant “apology”, an American defence force aircraft carrier and one cranky Italian-American.
